A shy cat fell head over heels for a family who took a chance on her, transforming right before their eyes.
Cardamom, a street cat, came to Meow Village with her litter of six, hoping for a chance at a better life.
They were found in a family’s backyard after Cardamom had given birth. She was devoted to caring for her kittens, keeping them safe and well-fed before rescuers arrived to take them in.
“She has done a great job raising her litter and has been a bit of a protective mom,” Meow Village shared.
Cardamom rarely left her babies’ side during the first few weeks of their lives, catering to their every whim. She was wary of people but content with the round-the-clock room service and a safe, comfy space to raise her young.
With the support of a foster family, her kittens (Basil, Saffron, Pepper, Sesame, Nutmeg, and Paprika) grew by leaps and bounds.
When the kittens were big enough to venture out of their nest, they quickly took over the room and filled it with playful chaos. They kept their mom on her toes, jumping around with unbridled energy and crying for her immediate attention.
After wearing themselves out from all the running and tussling, they curled up in a purr pile for a snooze.
When the kittens were ready for adoption, they went to good homes one by one. Cardamom became the last one awaiting her happily ever after.
“While she admits to being on the quiet side at first, it’s not hard to lure Cardamom over for soft pets that will no doubt lead to warm snuggles before you know it. Finding pleasure in the simple joys of life is what makes this classic beauty truly happy.”
“This girl has had it a bit rough and needs to find someone to show her that life as a spoiled house cat is pretty darned good.”
When Cardamom was done raising her last litter, she began to play more, letting her inner kitten come out. As she grew more comfortable around people, her beautiful personality shone through.
For a while, she didn’t receive any interest, but after a few months, the perfect application came in for Cardamom.
A lovely family took a chance on the shy kitty and opened their hearts to her. They brought her home and gave her all the time she needed to adjust. Before long, she started to transform in front of their eyes.
“Renamed Donna, she became a cherished member of her new family. Although initially reserved, her gradual transformation into a confident and loving companion has been a rewarding journey for her owners.”
She found the courage to jump on the couch, curl up beside her people, and wiggle her way onto their lap.
She has blossomed into a full-fledged lap cat who often wraps her arms around her humans. She is no longer that shy kitty but a bundle of joy, eager to give and receive love.
“Her calm, affectionate demeanor and quirky antics bring endless joy to the household every day.”
Donna has a canine best friend with whom she shares lots of nap time. “Her family says adopting Donna felt like hitting the jackpot – they couldn’t have asked for a more perfect addition to their family.”
Thanks to the compassionate volunteers at Meow Village, Donna and her kittens are living their best lives in their forever homes.
She lounges on the couch with her family every day, basking in endless head scratches.
